Rang in the New Year in Russia! Certainly an interesting place to visit. Seeing St Basil’s Cathedral in Red Square was definitely a highlight, although not at all what I was expecting on the inside! January also saw a weekend trip to Barcelona that fell on Australia Day. After a brief visit in July 2012, it was good to get a chance to go back and experience this city properly. It’s still one of my favourites and I am just in awe of Gaudi’s architecture.
A birthday trip to Lisbon mid-February. Originally not on my list of places I wanted to visit in Europe, but so glad I did! It’s a lovely city, almost like a European San Francisco. The end of the month brought a long anticipated return to Sydney.
Catching up with family, friends, celebrating Abbie and Vahrun’s wedding and eating my weight in Australian foods I had missed so much during my time abroad. After two weeks it was time to return to London, straight back into it at work and my first hack days with VoucherCodes. Managed to sneak in a cheeky weekend in Paris for a Bikram Yoga seminar before heading to Zurich for the Easter long weekend and exploring more of Switzerland.
Celebrated Jen’s birthday with afternoon tea at The Ritz, London and a company trip to Austin, Texas where a group of us were stranded for a night in Minneapolis due to bad weather.
Steph’s birthday weekend in Luxembourg and another trip to Paris at the end of the month for Roland Garros. First time taking the Eurostar and cannot recommend it enough, so much less hassle than flying!
Another Eurostar trip over to Brussels for a weekend. In London, I attended Royal Ascott and VoucherCodes finally relocated to an amazing new office. Highlight of the month, though, was finally getting the chance to attend Wimbledon with tickets for Centre Court on the middle Saturday.
Summer finally arrived in the UK so we took the opportunity to spend a weekend in Bournemouth. I’ve missed sandy beaches! Also got to visit Palma for the first time on the VoucherCodes company holiday. Back in London, I attended a couple of theatre productions – The Book of Mormon in the West End and The Sound of Music at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
A return to Berlin and first time visit to Scandinavia! Didn’t make it to the top of Norway, unfortunately, so that’s definitely on my list of places to visit in future. Still haven’t had the opportunity to see the Northern Lights yet. Sunny and warmer days in London meant that I was finally able to visit the top of St Paul’s Cathedral.
A weekend trip to Cologne, Germany. Primarily just to go visit the chocolate factory. We were lucky enough to stumble across a wonderful little restaurant with a delightful macaron dessert. Also squeezed in a day trip to Brighton for the Reasons to be Creative conference.
Back to Switzerland again, this time to the lovely little town of Basel, right on the border of Switzerland, France and Germany.
No international trips this month, but plenty going on in London including Winter Wonderland, a Lego snow globe and ice skating under the London Eye.
My first time skiing in Europe! Spend a week in St Moritz at the amazing Hotel Kulm.
