A Room With A View

3 September 2014

I’m taking part in a travel link up and the theme for September is ‘A Room with a View’. I’ve stayed in my fair share of hotels over the years, most of the time the views are less than spectacular. Occasionally though I do like to treat myself to a room upgrade. I think this is especially important when you want a relaxing break, waking up in a nice room with a stunning view out the window makes all the difference. Here are just a few of my favourites…

Shangri La, Sydney

Sydney is my home (well, it was before I moved to London), but my family lives about an hour away from the CBD so I have stayed in hotels on various occasions. Shangri La will always be my favourite though, I’ve stayed there twice now and with views like this it’s not hard to see why.

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa

As far as beach holidays go, I don’t think you can get much better than this. We stayed in a beachfront room with a private terrace, where you could enjoy a bath or relax on the daybed looking out towards the ocean.

InterContinental, Warsaw

I think InterContinental has some of the best views around the world. In Warsaw our room was on the 27th floor, offering great views over the city.

Hotel Catalonia Barcelona Plaza

I stayed at this hotel on a Contiki tour. They don’t normally use this hotel but we got an upgrade as their regular hotel was overbooked. We had a fantastic view of the palace, which was perfect for watching the Magic Fountain display.

Hotel Adria, Dubrovnik

Perched high on a hill, this hotel room had beautiful views over the city and harbour. This was another stop on the same Contiki tour so getting a second hotel with a view was a wonderful surprise.
