Travel wishlist for 2018

1 January 2018

It’s been a long time since I took part in a travel linkup, so I thought I’d kick off the year by sharing my 2018 travel wishlist. I don’t have any trips booked yet but I’ve got lots of ideas on where I’d like to go this year. Winter sun in Seville I sometimes find this time of year in London a little difficult to bare. The Christmas festivities are over and the weather is mostly cold and dreary...

I can’t believe we are at the end of 2017. I’m sure everyone says this but I feel like this year has flown by. As is tradition on this blog, at the end of the year I like to look back at the places I visited and things I achieved throughout the year. So let’s take a little trip down memory lane… The annual ski trip In February we travelled to Val d’Isere for our traditional birthday ski trip...

What to expect at your UK Premium Service visa appointment

1 July 2017
image from What to expect at your UK Premium Service visa appointment

If you are switching or extending your visa in the UK you have the option of paying for the Premium Service, where you attend an appointment at a Premium Service Centre to have your application processed. As I explained in my previous post about how to extend your Tier 2 (General) visa, I chose this option because I needed quick processing to avoid interfering with some travel plans I had already made...

How to Extend Your UK Tier 2 (General) Visa

It has been three years since I got my Tier 2 (General) visa and since I only got the three year visa the first time I needed to extend it for a further three years. My original post on getting a Tier 2 (General) visa has been my most popular blog post by far so I thought it would be useful to do a follow up post on how to extend this visa if you are continuing to work for the same employer...

April Re-cap: Roadtripping around the UK

I’ve been a little slack with these monthly updates and haven’t done one since January. But April has been an exciting month so its the perfect time for me to get back into doing these updates. What’s been happening this month? I visited the National Trust’s Knole, an English country house situated within a 1,000-acre deer park. It’s an easy day trip from London so definitely worth checking out if you’re a National Trust member...

What’s been happening this month I got my Historic Houses Association membership in December and used it for the first time at Hever Castle. It had been on my list of places I wanted to visit for a long time so I’m glad I’ve finally ticked it off. I visited over the New Years Day bank holiday and they still had their Christmas decorations up. At the end of each year I like to do a re-cap post of my travel and personal highlights from the year (you can check out my 2015, 2014 and 2013 posts if you’re interested). This year I’ve decided to do a slightly different format and have come up with 16 highlights from 2016, mostly in chronological order. Skiing in Courchevel My first trip of the year was to Courchevel for a ski trip to celebrate mine and my boyfriend’s birthdays...

How to renew your Australian passport in London

13 December 2016

I can’t believe it was ten years ago that I applied for my passport ahead of my first ever trip to Europe. When I was filling in that form I never would have imagined that I’d actually be living in London by the time it expired. Even though I was back in Australia recently, I was only there for a week, so I didn’t feel comfortable submitting an application for my passport renewal only a few days before I was due to fly back to London...

November Re-cap: A trip to Bruges

2 December 2016

What’s been happening this month? I popped down to Brighton for a couple of days for a conference. Sadly I didn’t get much time for sightseeing as the conference started quite early and it was dark outside by the time it finished! We went to Franco Manca for dinner which was just around the corner from my hotel. The pizzas were excellent so I’ll definitely have to make more of an effort to visit one of their London restaurants...

October Re-cap - Staycationing

What’s been happening this month? I watched my first ever live rugby game at Twickenham where the Wallabies took on Argentina, and won! We turned the weekend into a little staycation and booked ourselves a room at the Hilton Syon Park. We enjoyed our previous stay at this hotel and it was nice to go back, it feels like you’re staying in the countryside. View this post on Instagram First ever visit to Twickenham last night and got to watch the Wallabies win!..
