June Re-Cap: Geneva, Cornwall and visitors from Australia!

What’s been happening this month?

June has definitely been the busiest month of the year so far! The first weekend of the month started with a day trip to Upnor Castle and Whitstable. I was a little disappointed with Whitstable to be honest, not sure if I just missed the best parts but I didn’t enjoy it as much as some of the other seaside towns I’ve visited in the UK. I enjoyed Upnor Castle though and recommend visiting if you are an English Heritage member.

Enjoying the gardens at Whitstable Castle last weekend. Can we have some sunshine back now?

The next day we went on a tour of the hidden tunnels of Euston. I’m well behind on my blog posts so I haven’t had a chance to write about this yet but it was an interesting tour and I’d definitely recommend it.

We travelled to Geneva the following weekend, primarily because we needed two more eligible flights to qualify for British Airways Executive Club Silver membership and flights to Geneva were going for pretty cheap. It also gave me the opportunity to visit Chillon Castle which has been on my bucket list for a long time.

Finally ticked this off my bucket list – Chillon Castle on Lake Geneva

The day after we returned from Geneva, my sister arrived from Australia! We spent a day together in London, eating rainbow bagels on Brick Lane and visiting the House of MinaLima to see this Harry Potter exhibition:

And then we set off on a 6 day roadtrip to Cornwall! We stayed in Airbnb’s during our trip and had a great time, it definitely made our trip feel a lot more homey. I would love to return to Cornwall again to explore some other parts we didn’t get time to see.

Our last full day in Cornwall 😢 Will have to come back again, there's so much more I want to see!

After returning from Cornwall I caught up with some other friends in London who were visiting from Australia. We spent a weekend during touristy things including an afternoon tea at Claridges and a visit to the Sky Garden.

Looking ahead to July

My sister will still be around for the beginning of July and we have lots planned including a day trip to Brighton, afternoon tea at One Aldwych and seeing the Aladdin musical and the Harry Potter play! Just as my sister is about to head home, my parents will be arriving in London and they’ll be staying with me for two weeks. It will be their first time in London so I’m looking forward to showing them around.

I hope you had a great June! Do you have any exciting plans for July?
