Is it just me or did 2015 just fly by? I can’t believe it’s 2016 already. As with last year, I’m joining in the travel linkup hosted by Emma, Angie and Jessi to share my travel wishlist and plans for 2016. Unfortunately last year I didn’t really get to tick off any of the places on my wishlist so hopefully this year I will have a better go at it!
My plans so far
I’m planning a little weekend getaway to Dover for my birthday to visit Dover Castle then a week later will be heading off to Courchevel for a week of skiing. It will be my first time in Courchevel and also my first time staying in a French chalet as opposed to a hotel so I’m excited to experience something new.
One of my friends is getting married in April so I’m hoping to make it back home to Sydney for the wedding. I think I’ll only be able to spend about a week out there so it will be quite a challenge trying to squeeze in catching up with family and friends in such a short space of time.
In June my friend Steph will be travelling around Europe so I’m hoping to meet up with her for a few days in Cinque Terre, before heading back to London to await the arrival of my sister. We’ve planned a 5 day roadtrip around Cornwall and hopefully a couple of other day trips from London if there’s time.
My only visit to Poland so far was a long weekend in Warsaw in 2014. I want to go back and see more of the country, with Krakow being at the top of my list. I’m hoping I can book a trip over one of the bank holiday weekends. My trip would definitely include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau and the salt mines. Image source: Nico Trinkhaus - CC-BY-NC
I’m longing to explore Norway and see the beautiful fjords! Image source: Flickr
This is a region of Europe that I’ve still yet to explore. I want to tick at least one new country off my list this year so I’m hoping to plan a weekend trip to either Riga, Vilnius or Tallinn. Image source: Flickr
Isle of Wight
As with last year I am still trying to see more of the UK outside London and one of the places I most want to see this year is the Isle of Wight. I would love to spend a few days out there, with Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House being two places on my must-see list. Image source: Flickr
German Christmas Market
I’ve visited a bunch of Christmas markets around London but I’m yet to do an authentic one in Germany. I keep meaning to do it every year but I always leave it too late and then the flight prices get ridiculous. Hopefully this year I’ll be a bit more organised and make it happen. Image source: Flickr
