One of the first properties on my English Heritage wishlist was Chiswick House and I was determined to fit in a visit before it closed for the winter. I didn’t end up taking my scooter, Sasha, this time since I didn’t want to ride all the way through Central London and wasn’t sure what the parking situation was. They have pay and display parking for cars but I wasn’t sure how this would work for motorcycles...

A few weeks ago I popped in to Down House on a whim as I happened to be passing through the area. I figured this was the perfect opportunity to sign up for an English Heritage membership since I’d been wanting to become a member anyway. It’s open to anyone, you just pay a yearly membership fee and you get free and discounted entry to museums and art galleries across the UK. When my membership pack arrived in the mail and I started flicking through the Art Guide, I realised that you also can get free entry to a number of English Heritage and National Trust properties including Eltham Palace, Chiswick House, Knightshayes, Osborne House and loads more...

Whenever a bank holiday weekend rolls around I always make sure I take a trip somewhere new. With the uncertainty of my visa situation I wasn’t able to plan this weekend very far in advance. By the time I was back in the UK, flight prices over the bank holiday weekend were ridiculously high so my original hopes of going to Budapest were dashed. Still determined to get out of London, we ended up deciding to hire a car and take a road trip to Dorset in South West England...
