image from Review: Kempinski Hotel Adriatic Istria Croatia

After a couple of long days travelling by motorcyle from London to Croatia, we wanted somewhere to stay where we could relax and unwind before continuing on our journey. The prestigious Croatian five-star luxury seaside golf-and-spa resort, Kempinski Hotel Adriatic, looked like the perfect place for this so I booked us in for two-nights. The hotel is located in the Istria region of Croatia - the triangular peninsula in the northern Adriatic, close to the Italian border...

When choosing our accommodation in St Moritz we had a firm idea of what we were looking for. We wanted to be within short walking distance of the ski lifts, somewhere with excellent amenities but not prohibitively expensive. Art Boutique Hotel Monopol ticked all those boxes for us. Check in Upon arrival at St Moritz train station we were greeted by our transfer driver who loaded our luggage into the car and whisked us away to the hotel...

image from Review: Château Hôtel Grand Barrail, France

While looking at accommodation options in Bordeaux I came across Château Hôtel Grand Barrail. This 19th-century Château is just 3km outside Saint-Émilion and after seeing the photos we decided we had to spend a couple of nights here during our trip. Château Hôtel Grand Barrail is one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World - a collection of over 500 small, independent luxury hotels. We’ve previously stayed at another hotel in this group, Luton Hoo, so our expectations were high...

Once I saw photos of Hotel Dukes’ Palace, I knew there were was nowhere else I’d want to stay during our trip to Bruges. I could never pass up the opportunity to live in a fifteenth-century castle for a couple of nights! Formerly the residence of the Dukes of Burgundy, this hotel is ideally located in the heart of Bruges. The Markt Square is only a 5 minute walk away...

A spa weekend at Luton Hoo

image from A spa weekend at Luton Hoo

On a Thursday evening, my boyfriend and I were feeling spontaneous and wanted to escape London for the weekend on a spa break. After researching a few options we decided on the “Luxury Spa Escape” package at Luton Hoo which included accommodation for one night, a 55 minute spa treatment for both of us, a three course dinner, and breakfast. Luton Hoo was once a stately home before being purchased by Elite Hotels in 1999...

My first Airbnb experience

10 October 2016
image from My first Airbnb experience

I guess I’m a little late to the game with Airbnb. I’ve known about it for years and have heard great things but I never got around to trying it until my trip to Cornwall a few months ago. In case you aren’t familiar with Airbnb, it is an online marketplace which lets people rent out their properties or spare rooms to guests. With properties available in pretty much all major cities around the world, Airbnb is favoured amongst travellers as you can often find accommodation that is centrally located at a cheaper price than a hotel...

image from Hotel Review: Kempinski San Lawrenz, Gozo, Malta

When planning our trip to Malta I wanted to make sure that a visit to Gozo was included in our itinerary. We wanted to have enough time to explore some of the island and fit in a few SCUBA dives so we planned to spend 3 nights there before returning to mainland Malta for the remainder of our trip. We found an accommodation package with Kempinski San Lawrenz that included a free dive as well as a 20% discount on any other dives we booked through the hotel so this suited us perfectly...

A staycation at the Hilton Syon Park

17 August 2015
image from A staycation at the Hilton Syon Park

With a few big expenses of late (a new camera, a new scooter, etc.) I haven’t had the opportunity to do much travelling abroad. With work getting quite busy as well I was desperate for a mini break without wanting to fork out money for flights. In the end I decided to settle for a staycation in Richmond. There were a few properties in the area that I could enter for free using my Art Pass so there would be plenty to do whilst keeping costs down...

Review: LaGare Hotel Milano Centrale

image from Review: LaGare Hotel Milano Centrale

During my recent trip to Milan I stayed with LaGare Hotel Milano Centrale, a newly opened MGallery Accor property. Located just a short walk away from Milan’s central train station, this hotel is ideally placed for exploring the city and surrounding areas. Check In We arrived slightly earlier than the standard check in time but we didn’t have to wait and were given access to our room straight away. I like it when the staff give you a run down on where all the facilities are located but we didn’t really get that here...

Hotel Review: Sofitel Munich Bayerpost

2 February 2015
image from Hotel Review: Sofitel Munich Bayerpost

During our weekend trip to Munich in January we stayed at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. The hotel is located just outside the main train station so it was a convenient base for our day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle and for exploring the city of Munich. Check In The first thing I noticed when I walked into the lobby was the incredible fragrance of the room. This may sound odd but seriously, I’ve never been to a hotel that smelt so good before...
