I’ve recently returned from a week long ski holiday in St Moritz, Switzerland. It was my second time staying at this resort, although my first visit was pre-blog so I never wrote a post about it. I’ve got to know St Moritz fairly well now so here’s my guide to skiing at this resort… About St Moritz Located in Switzerland’s Engadin valley, St Moritz is the oldest winter sports resort in the world...

I’ve recently returned from a ski holiday in Val d’Isere. It was my first time visiting this resort and I now consider it to be one of my favourites in Europe! Here’s my guide to skiing in Val d’Isere… About Val d’Isere Val d’Isere is located in the Tarentaise Valley, Savoie in the French Alps. Along with nearby Tignes it forms part of the Espace Killy ski area, named after the Olympic skier Jean-Claude Killy who grew up in Val d’Isère...

Originally we had planned to return to Corvatsch for our February ski trip but by the time we got around to booking, the hotel we wanted was already completely sold out. With limited options and escalating prices we decided to try something a bit different a booked a chalet in Courchevel, France. About Courchevel Courchevel is located in the commune of Saint-Bon-Tarentaise in the French Alps. There are four villages that make up the resort of Courchevel...

What kind of ski accommodation should you book? Hotels vs Chalets

image from What kind of ski accommodation should you book? Hotels vs Chalets

During my most recent ski trip to Courchevel I stayed in a catered chalet for the first time. I didn’t really know what to expect from a chalet before we arrived, having always opted for hotel accommodation on our previous ski trips in Europe. Overall I enjoyed our chalet stay and there are some aspects of chalet accommodation that I prefer over a hotel, but it all comes down to your personality and what you are looking to get out of your ski trip...

How to book the perfect European ski holiday

image from How to book the perfect European ski holiday

In Europe we are spoiled for choice when it comes to ski resorts, and that can make the process of booking a ski holiday a little overwhelming! After booking two ski holidays a year over the last three years I’ve picked up a few tricks along the way and thought I’d share them with you in this beginner’s guide: Package holiday vs independent booking In the UK there are a lot of tour operators who will do all the hard work for you and allow you to book an all-inclusive ski trip - flights, airport transfers, accommodation, and often meals, lift passes and ski hire are all covered in the price...

Things have been a bit quiet on the blog this month. Work has been crazy busy and I’ve just returned from a ski trip in Austria, but I thought I’d get back into the swing of things by wrapping up all the highlights from 2015. I try to write one of these posts every year as I really enjoy looking back on the things I’ve done. Biggest personal achievements On the first day of January 2015, I skied my first ever black run!..

Getting the most out of your GoPro

I’ve owned a GoPro Hero 3 for almost two years now and I love it for my skiing and diving holidays. They aren’t the easiest cameras to use though and they come with a bit of a learning curve so I thought I’d share a few tips I’ve picked up along the way. Choosing the right mount I use a GoPole Reach for underwater filming. The great thing about this pole is that it floats when it’s fully extended, so if you drop it, it won’t sink to the bottom of the ocean...

Skiing in Switzerland had been on my bucket list long before I moved to the UK. In December 2013 I spent a week out in St Moritz, one of the world’s most famous ski resorts. On this occasion we stayed with Kulm Hotel and we invited to a private ski night on the evening of our arrival along with other guests at the hotel. This night ski took place on Corvatsch mountain, a short drive out of town...

As I mentioned in a previous post, my boyfriend and I spent a few days skiing in Hintertux, Austria earlier this month. It was never in our original plan to ski here as we were staying in Mayrhofen and thought we would just stick to the local slopes there. It wasn’t until we arrived in Mayrhofen that we realised how easy it was to access Hintertux (and also free for skiers with a Zillertal Valley ski pass) so we decided to give it a go and we’re so glad we did!..

Skiing a black run in Austria!

My dad taught me to ski at a young age but up until a few weeks ago I had never dared to attempt a black run (expert level). While skiing in Hintertux, Austria, I was unknowingly lead onto a black run by my boyfriend and didn’t even realise until I’d already gone about a quarter of the way down (he did this on purpose, knowing I’d never agree to it if he told me beforehand)...
